TEXAS' LAWS FOR BOAT SPEED LIMITS AND OPERATION IN RESTRICTED AREAS:
In Texas, boaters must operate at a safe speed and obey any posted speed limits. Additionally, it is illegal to operate a boat in an area that has been clearly marked by buoys or any other distinguishing device, such as a bathing, fishing, swimming, or otherwise restricted area. Also, it is illegal to operate any boat, or to manipulate any waterskies, aquaplane, or similar device in a willfully or wantonly reckless or negligent manner that endangers the life, limb, or property of any person. In Paradise Bay cove, we do have permitted buoys that constitute a no wake zone, and it is enforceable by the Game Warden.
Examples of reckless or negligent operation include:
- Operating any water craft at a dangerous rate of speed.
- Boating in a restricted area.
- Creating a hazardous wake or wash.
- Encircling others engaged in water activities.
Golf Cart or other motor vehicles operating safety:
The POA wants to make you aware to properly discuss safety and training of operating a motor vehicle, whether gas or electric for minors within our community. We want everyone to be responsible and as the parent of the minor, you can be held liable in the event something does happen, God forbid.
The reason for this safety post is because of something I observed a few weekends ago. There was a minor child of around 10 years old driving a golf cart in the mobile home area of Paradise Bay, and she came out from the main road of E. Will White from the mobile home road and made a quick turn to go back into the mobile home area. There was a toddler passenger on that cart and that child could have easily been thrown from that vehicle. The toddler could have easily been killed.
